eTeach Network Thuringia

The Talks@eTeach event format brings together lecturers from different universities to exchange ideas about their own experiences on an equitable basis. The online format is designed to facilitate the sharing of experiences and perspectives on career-related topics and to enable participants to learn from one another.

The format takes place every one to two months in a hybrid format and covers current topics such as hybrid teaching, digital examinations and artificial intelligence.

The Thuringia-wide workshop program covers topics ranging from media didactics and media production to digital examinations. The free courses take place as half-day and full-day workshops or in the form of blended learning courses. The eTeach course programme thus complements our extensive range of workshops offered by the LehreLernen Service Center for Higher Education Didactics Jena.

The eTeach Network's tutor programme is a free training programme that enables students to train as e-tutors and then provide support in areas such as the implementation or realisation of digital teaching. A certificate can be obtained.

Students at the University of Jena can use the programme to enhance their personal media literacy skills or to prepare for assistant roles in digital teaching.
The programme complements our workshops for student assistants and tutors on teaching principles and working with Moodle, which are offered by the LehreLernen Service Center for Higher Education Didactics.

In order to strengthen cooperation between universities, teaching projects developed jointly by two Thuringian universities will receive financial support. These cooperative impulse projects are advertised annually and can be started in January. For each university participating in a project, a maximum of one full-time position for six months or one part-time position for twelve months as well as material resources can be approved.

Funding is available for projects in three funding categories: development, enrichment and testing.

The ‘eTeach free spaces’ funding programme offers lecturers the opportunity to further develop their teaching and learning formats in order to improve students’ skills acquisition and learning success and increase accessibility. The funding supports didactic, methodological or media technology changes and includes financial support of up to 3,000€ per application. Lecturers are eligible to create teaching materials, produce audio/video content, and introduce new methods, among other things. The costs for external experts, student assistants, and teaching/learning materials can be covered.

Expressions of interest must be submitted by the 31st of July.

This year, the annual conference of the eTeach Network Thuringia will focus on areas of tension, upheaval and blind spots that arise from the introduction and use of digital technologies, media and artificial intelligence applications in higher education. The event offers an opportunity to discuss current issues and to network, build bridges and outline ways of dealing with these areas of tension.

Under the title ‘Building bridges. Areas of tension in digital teaching innovations’, we will be meeting in Jena on the 4th and 5th of November this year to host the eTeach Annual Conference 2024 together with Friedrich Schiller University.
